How Much Do Partial and Complete Dentures Cost?

    By Danny | Dental Knowledge | Comments are Closed | 14 March, 2020 | 0

Ever since dentures have been one of the most common solutions for missing teeth replacement. While it is popular, there are still some people who have no idea how much does it cost to get a denture. To give you an idea, the cost of dentures depends on various factors, such as materials and treatments needed. The dental clinic also affects the cost of your dentures.

In this article, we are going to tackle what denture is, its types, including the cost, benefits and drawbacks. We hope that this article can help you decide what denture option is best for your situation.

    What is Denture?

Dentures are removable prostheses that are used to replace one or more missing teeth. It restores your smile and your ability to chew foods. Aside from that, dentures also help you with your speech. If multiple teeth are missing, it can provide valuable support for your facial structures and muscles. These dentures are held in place using a dental adhesive or suction. Unlike other dental solutions for missing teeth, dentures are easy to remove out for cleaning. It is best to remove at night to give your gum tissues a chance to recover and rest.

    Types of Dentures

Dentures are made up of different materials. You can choose from the options based on the type you want. The type of dentures ideal for you depends on whether you had all or some of your teeth removed. The cost of its kind varies, be it a full or partial denture.

    Full or Complete Dentures

Full dentures are also known as complete dentures. These dentures are removable false teeth that are used to replace missing teeth. Most full dentures are made out of acrylic or porcelain, and an acrylic base holds them together. If you lose all of your teeth (upper and lower) you should choose the full dentures. This can help to fill in the gap and it can also enhance your facial structures. Thus, making you feel more confident to smile and talk.

    Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are also removable but give a natural-looking dental appliance. This denture helps in restoring the structure of your facial same with a full denture. Aside from that, it also restores the function of your jaw by replacing one or more missing teeth. Partial dentures are usually made from a combination of acrylic and metal. That’s why it gives them the strength to handle your speaking and chewing needs while giving a natural look. In some cases, partial dentures are solely made from acrylic. Although acrylic-based dentures are less durable, it is still a good option for you depending on your needs.

How Much is the Cost of Partial and Full Dentures?

The cost of dentures varies, depending on some factors. So the estimated costs of dentures below are just a guideline. In some countries, if denturists are allowed to make dentures legally the price guidelines are typically published by denturist associations. Whereas, some governments provide additional coverage for dentures purchasing for the senior citizens.

    Complete Denture Cost

    • Economy full dentures – the cost of an economy denture likely runs around $300-$600 per arch (either top or bottom).

It is cheaper than other full dentures but doesn’t expect that it will last longer. You may need to replace these types of dentures after a short time. The drawback of this is, if you replace them a few times, you can pay another hundred dollars. Just to look it better and fit with you. If that’s the case, might as well get those pricey but is longer-lasting.

    • Acrylic full dentures – Investing in a nicer set of acrylic dentures with long-lasting teeth will cost you around $1000-$3000 each arch.
    • Custom full dentures – For certain custom made dentures, you can expect to pay $4000 or more per arch.

    Partial Denture Costs

    • Economy partial dentures – the economy type of partials cost about the same as economy full dentures. Expect to pay around $300-$600 per arch.

They come with the same issues as economy full dentures as well. The only addition is a few more numbers of wire clasps that sometimes need adjusting.

    • Metal-framework partial dentures – this type of partials cost around $900-$2000 each arch. These are much more comfortable and durable than the economy partials. They are much more stable and functional too because they are attached to the remaining teeth.
